A step animation moves parts as you go through step cards in order. You can start from the explode template or build steps one by one yourself.
Add a step
- Click + Add step in the step timeline at the bottom. A new step that duplicates the current step is added right after it.
- In the new step, select a part and change its position (mm) and rotation (°) in the properties panel on the right. The values mean how far the part has moved and turned from its starting position.
- On the right, set the step's name (100 characters), description (300 characters) and time (seconds, 0–30). The name and description also appear with the step controls on the share link.
A project can have up to 50 steps.
Ways to move parts
- Type values directly, or click the −/+ buttons for each axis (10mm for moving, 15° for rotating).
- With the Move or Rotate tool selected, use the keyboard: ←→ for X, ↑↓ for Y, PageUp/PageDown for Z (5mm or 5°, hold Shift for 10×).
Reorder and delete
- Drag a step card to a new spot to change the order.
- Click × on a card to delete the step.
- STEP 0 is the starting position, so it can't be moved or deleted.
Play and check
Click Play to run from start to finish. Click a card to jump to that step. To view it without the editing tools, click Preview at the top (opens in a new tab).
Easing
For each step, you can choose how the motion starts and ends (easing). Easing other than the default Smooth is available on the Pro plan and above.
Saving
Step changes are saved automatically after 2 seconds. If the same project is edited in another window and you see "Changed elsewhere", click Reload to load the latest version.
